The Worst Games Ever. Pain Ensues.
SO TRUE…
So, all the freshmen I’ve talked to who are new to Michigan and are coping with their first Michigan loss ever say, “I seriously cried. It was the worst thing ever.” Okay, mostly just girls with the crying part. But you know how the voices go up at the end of a sentence when people really mean what they say and that’s how they say the “ever”. And I just think to myself: You don’t even know. Why don’t you try losing to Ohio State 5 years in a row, seeing players like Chad Henne and Mike Hart and Jake Long and Mario Manningham and Lamarr Woodley and Alan Branch and David Harris all going without ever beating the Buckeyes? Why don’t you try listening to Michigan lose to Appalachian State on the radio because the Big Ten Network wasn’t on Comcast yet, and hearing the announcers’ stunned silence and the crowd screaming in disbelief and Horror? Why don’t you try watching Mike Hart get hurt? Why don’t you try losing by a last-second field goal to Texas? Why don’t you try going to play USC and losing by two touchdowns? Twice? Why don’t you try getting sick of the run, run, pass philosophy of Coach Carr? Why don’t you try being blown out by Oregon? Why don’t you try worrying about when we’ll be able to beat Ohio State again? Heck, how about you watch every game Michigan has played in the past 5 years alone? Why don’t you try being a diehard fan, and then we can talk about the worst things “ever”?
